Our Beginning

Bon Chance became an ASCA recognized kennel in 1986 in Michigan.  That same year we moved to Texas.  We started with one very beautiful Red Tri, Starstuff Canis Major, and a commitment to Obedience. Two more Starstuff Aussies were added in 1987 and 1988. Starstuff Cutting Edge, *Bran*, and Starstuff Lunar Eclipse BC, *Lunar*, became Bon Chance residents and all three were well on their way to careers in Obedience. All did very well, with many First Place scores and High In Trial honors.
In 1991, we had our first litter at Bon Chance when Bran, was bred to Major. From that litter, Bon Chance Morning Star Cutter became a member of the Bunch and, also, became an Obedience candidate.  We became involved in Conformation in 1998 with Bon Chance Eclipse of Fire, *Sunshine*
We are pleased with the progress of all the Bunch at Bon Chance.

Our Goals

Our first desire at Bon Chance is to have and produce a healthy, well-rounded Australian Shepherd. We believe that our dogs should get involved in all aspects of what an Aussie can be.

We have produced very few litters at Bon Chance, but when we do, it is for the purpose of improving the breed and adding to our kennel.

Our Thanks

Since our beginnings, we have met, been influenced by and learned from many people who are involved with this beautiful breed. We got our start from Starstuff Australian Shepherds in Michigan, from whom we obtained our first three Aussies.  Over the years we have received encouragement and advice that has proved invaluable from many Aussie friends who are breeders and Breeder Judges.   They have been critical, when necessary, and always helpful and concerned. They are committed to the future of the Australian Shepherd and are dedicated to health issues, breeding correctly and producing healthy Aussies that are well rounded and can do all that this breed was originally developed for.

DISCLAIMER- IMPORTANT

"Those interested in the Australian Shepherd should be aware there are no
size varieties of Australian Shepherds. There is no officially recognized
Australian Shepherd variety such as "Standard," "Mini/Miniature," or
"Toy" Australian Shepherd.

Advertisers of Standard, Miniature, and Toy Varieties of Australian Shepherds
are simply employing marketing terminologies to facilitate the sale of animals
to the unsuspecting public that are, in reality, just dramatically smaller than the norm.

Responsible, reputable Australian Shepherd breeders who care about
protecting this unique, American breed of stock dog do not promote the sale of
Standard or Miniature or Toy Varieties of Australian Shepherds. This is a
marketing ploy to sell faulty, undersized pups for increased prices."
