Hiker is a lovely Blue Merle with stunning Copper.  His colors are rich and vibrant.  He is extremely intelligent and is learning his Obedience commands very quickly and should do well in the Obedience Ring. Hiker was one of the easiest dogs to house break.

HIKER HAS A NEW HOME!!!!

On Saturday, January 15, 2005 Hiker went to live with Kathy Farr and her husband, Jim.  Kathy is already owned by a lovely black tri male named Zipper and Kathy decided that he needed a best buddy.  So Zipper came to visit and play with Hiker and they became fast friends.  They both like to run and play rough and tumble.  Hiker will continue his Obedience training and begin training in Agility with Kathy and will eventually be competing in both of those venues.  Kathy is very committed to putting titles on both Hiker and Zipper.  We are so very happy that Kathy decided to give Zipper a new friend and chose Hiker!

Hiker has graduated from Basic Obedience!!

Congratulations to Jim and Hiker-what a great team

On Sunday, January 16, 2005, I received the following *letter* from Hiker.  He also sent me some pictures of he and Zipper.

Dear First Mom,
I miss you! Last night was a bit tough, not knowing where you were. But,
my new mom seems to know what to do. She brought my crate into her and New
Dad's bedroom so I wouldn't be all by myself. And she gave me a kong with
kibble and a bit of peanut butter on top for me to eat. It's not easy
figuring these things out.
Today has been much better. This morning was crispy cold. . . Aussies
favorite temperature. After several times in and out of the house, Zipper
decided that I was okay, and we've played chase several times. At first I
was faster, but I think he was just letting me win. Now we take turns
chasing each other.
We've had 5 separate wrestling matches. I growl real well, as you know.
Zipper isn't a growler, but he sure knows the Aussie wrestling ways! It's
going to take a week or so for Zipper's stamina to match mine. He hasn't
had anyone around to play with everyday like I did with you. New Mom
suspects Zipper will be trimming down just a bit real soon. And we'll be
eating them out of house and home in no time.
New Mom took these photos of us with our bones. She gave each of us one of
our very own. I make a LOT of noise carrying it and dropping it on the tile
and hardwood floors. I'm just so full of energy, but after all this
excitement and wrestling and chasing, I'm probably going to sleep very well
tonight.
Zipper has this great box full of toys that we have total access to. Right
now I'm playing keep away from Zipper with a stuffed dog. It's great fun,
but he's barking and growling a lot, trying to get it back (hehe).
They have 3 of these things with whiskers, one of which has already put me
in my place several times when I tried to sniff it to check it out. Boy,
does it have some nasty claws!! His name is Quincy, he's white with black
patches here and there, and he just sits on top of the overstuffed chair
and hisses at me, and then he watches every move I make.
Well, it's time to lie down for a few minutes and rest. Boy, there's a lot
of new smells and sounds to check out. They cleaned the house this morning.
It kept me totally busy cause I had to check out every move they made, and
they moved around a lot: sweeping the floor, doing the dishes and laundry,
vacuuming the rugs, etc. With two of them to watch I was very glad when
they finished.
Until next time. . . love you and miss you!
Hiker
